About the American Bar Foundation Fellowship

The American Bar Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to promoting justice through comprehensive empirical and interdisciplinary research on law, legal processes, and institutions. It plays a crucial role in shaping legal standards, advocating for the legal profession, and promoting the rule of law both domestically and internationally. The ABF Fellowship is a worldwide honorary society of attorneys, judges, law faculty, and legal scholars whose public and private careers exemplify exceptional commitment to the highest standards of the legal profession.

Being selected as a Fellow in the ABF is not only a recognition of an attorney’s professional accomplishments but also an acknowledgment of their contributions to the broader legal community. Fellows are chosen through a rigorous selection process, and only 1% of licensed attorneys receive an invitation to join. As a Fellow, Karla Miller joins an elite group of legal professionals who are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of the legal profession and contributing to the advancement of the law.

To be considered for membership in the Fellows, an attorney must be nominated by an existing Fellow. Eligible nominees, per the ABF, are those who:

  • Demonstrate extraordinary leadership in the legal profession
  • Are current members of the American Bar Association
  • Are licensed to practice law in the appropriate jurisdiction
